20 MW Solar Park work started at Muktagacha

As part of the government’s plan to increase the production of renewable energy, work on a solar park with a capacity of 20 MW of power generation has started at Muktagacha in Mymensingh.

Nazrul Islam, Member of National Parliament of Mymensingh-5, Muktagachha Constituency, agriculturist, laid the foundation stone for the power plant on 70 acres of land in Nimuria village of upazila last Friday evening.

As a priority project of the Prime Minister, Jools Power Limited is constructing a solar power plant in Nimuria village of the upazila under the name of Muktagacha Solartech Energy Limited. Once its construction is completed, 20 MW of electricity will be added to the national grid. The benefits of which will be enjoyed by local customers. This will meet the electricity demand of the region.

Mahbub Anam, chairman of Jools Power Limited, chaired the inauguration and among others, the newly-elected chairman of Muktagacha Upazila Parishad, Bir Muktijoddha Abdul Hai Akand, female vice-chairman of Upazila Parishad, Najmunnahar Dilu, managing director of power plant construction company Jools Power Limited, Nuher Latif Khan and others spoke at the inauguration

In the speech of the chief guest at the inauguration, MP Nazrul Islam said that this solar park will play an important role in advancing Muktagachha in terms of infrastructure. Globally, the emphasis is on solar power generation to protect the environment. The government has also emphasized on this sector to achieve development targets and reduce energy imports. The electricity generated here will be experimentally connected to the national grid from December next year. He also mentioned in his speech that there will be no more electricity problems in Muktagacha after the construction is completed within a year.

Earlier, on April 12, 2023, the Cabinet Committee on Public Procurement approved the Bangladesh Power Development Board’s signing of an agreement with Jules Power Limited to set up a 20-megawatt (AC) solar-power plant on a ‘no power, no money’ basis in Muktagacha upazila for a period of 20 years.
